Readmission to Skidmore

GUIDELINES AND INFORMATION

Skidmore’s Committee on Academic Standing (CAS) reviews all applications for readmission to the College. The Committee takes into consideration the applicant's academic record up to the point of leaving Skidmore, any college work completed since leaving Skidmore, and letters of recomendation submitted on the applicant's behalf. The Committee cannot consider an application unless the applicant’s Skidmore financial obligations have been paid in full.

Students should contact the Financial Aid Office at finaid@skidmore.edu or by phone at 518-580-5750 for information about applying for financial aid.

Students should contact the Office of Residential Life at reslife@skidmore.edu or by phone at (518) 580-5765 for information about the availability of on-campus housing.

A completed application consists of the following materials:

  • Application for Readmission.
  • Transcripts for any college work completed since leaving Skidmore.
  • Two letters of recommendation. If you were academically disqualified from Skidmore, at least one of your letters must be from a recent college instructor.
  • A personal statement explaining your wish to return to Skidmore at this time, including any information you would like the Committee to take into consideration.

If you withdrew from the College while on a medical leave of absence, please submit the Application for Return from Medical Leave (available on our Leaves of Absence web page) along with your Application for Readmission. Be mindful of the posted deadlines to return from a medical leave.

Transcripts

Email all official transcripts to the Office of the Registrar at registrar@skidmore.edu.

Personal Statement

Your statement should include a description of your activities since leaving Skidmore, and the factors that have led you to apply for readmission. Please discuss your academic goals for returning (e.g. plans for major, intent for when you hope to complete your degree, etc.).

If you were academically disqualified, please address the following in your statement: The circumstances that led to your disqualification, what you have done to address the issues, and your plan for academic success, if readmitted. In most cases, two semesters of full-time study with grades of B or higher in each course is a pre-requisite for readmission in cases of academic disqualification. If readmitted, please note that you will be returning on academic waiver.

Email your completed application (including letters of recommendation and personal statement) to advising@skidmore.edu  Any questions pertaining to the readmission process can also be directed to the Office of Academic Advising.
