“Visualizing the Latinx Arts Scene in Upstate New York: A Conversation with Laudelina Martínez and Armando Soto”

Laudelina Martinez is the owner and director of Martinez Gallery, founded in 2001 in Troy, NY. She has curated more than 85 exhibitions for the Gallery and other venues while conducting an ongoing public education program in the area of art and culture. Her curatorial focus has been in presenting and advancing established and emerging Latino artists.
 
Armando Soto was born in New York City and is a graduate of Pratt Institute NY. He is a founding member of Taller Boricua and a collaborative member of the Action Alley Project, which created a mural with the artworks of Troy area children with the color and arrangement of the artist. For many years, he taught in lower Manhattan for a community organization called Arts Resources for Teachers and Students that collaborated with teachers in developing art projects within the school district.
