The Murray and Aikins dining
halls link the North and South residential quads and serve as
the principal dining facility for all residential students.
Murray Dining Hall is the southern
dining facility while Aikins is the northern half.
The Dining complex also includes:
- Food
Services (dining and catering across campus)
- Central Receiving (Main depot
for campus deliveries)
- Campus
Card Office (Skidmore identity and debit card service)
Disability Access
The dining halls are wheelchair-accessible,
and reserved parking is available in the Jonsson Tower lot along
the west side of the dining halls. Visitors should use the Jonsson
Tower elevator to get from the lot to the main campus level.
History
Murray Dining Hall is
named for Eileen Boyce Murray, who retired in 1969 after 40 years
of service as director of food services. "Her rigorous standards
and high expectations survived the challenges of depression and
war, leaving their permanent marks on both the College and thousands
of alumnae."
The Aikins Dining Hall
was dedicated in 2001 to Jean Aikins, who worked at Skidmore for
more than 40 years, first as Eileen Murray's assistant and then
as director of food services.
