Jeanne Battey Thomson

Betty Hale Hale appreciates more than ever the power of advertising. This past winter she listened to an advertisement for a carbon-monoxide detector. When she got the device home the danger signal started loud and clear without stopping: her recently purchased furnace had been improperly installed.

If you were a member of the Hartford, CT, Skidmore club in the 1940s you may remember Jeanne Clements Roth ’47. She phoned me from her home in Aspen, CO, to chat and reminisce. She is in touch with Betty Birge Cornet ’39, a former Hartford resident who now lives in Hilton Head Isle, SC. I knew Betty for many years, having grown up in West Hartford.

I am sad to report that my husband, Benjamin, died in March.
