Emily Vallee

Area of Expertise: Photography

Emily Vallee is a visual artist and educator whose photographic work seeks to explore the relationship of humankind and the natural world and to challenge notions of anthropocentrism. Vallee holds an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and a BFA from the University of Vermont. Select exhibitions of her work have been held at Aviary Gallery in Boston, MA, The Vermont Center for Photography in Brattleboro VT, Saratoga Arts Center Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY and The Conservation Center in Champ-Pittet, Switzerland. Vallee has been featured in various publications, such as, Lenscratch, Aint – Bad, Lamono Magazine, Booooooom, Phases Magazine, Vingettes, Muybridge’s Horse and Oranbeg Press’ As of Late zine series. In addition to her photographic practice, Vallee creates handmade photo-books. She has exhibited her artist books at the Boston Art Book Fair, the Philadelphia Art Book Fair and the Yale Odds & Ends Art Book Fair. Most recently, Vallee released her current project, Years With Wings, at the Boston Art Book Fair in 2019, coinciding with Audubon's 2019 Survival By Degrees climate report.
