Skidmore Spotlight: Adam Evans

July 17, 2019

Adam Evans works as the Opportunity Program’s learning associate for humanities and social sciences. He teaches the Opportunity Program’s developmental writing courses during the summer and fall, and tutors students on all things related to writing, reading and research.

Evans joined Skidmore in 2018. Having grown up in Lake George, he has always been interested in Skidmore's creative community.

“After working in higher ed and teaching writing for about 10 years, I heard about this position and learned about the work OP does on campus to shift the traditional student demographic,” he said. “This felt like a perfect marriage of my passion for teaching and my interests in pursuing equity and diversity in higher ed.”

Evans said he enjoys the ingenuity he sees on campus and the vast array of student projects.

“From things like the Faculty-Student Summer Research program presentations to the work done by Pass the Mic, there's always something unique and exciting going on,” Evans said. “It keeps me from feeling old and stale.”

When not on campus, he spends time with his young family and also enjoys fly fishing.
