Faculty-Staff Achievements
Yelena Biberman-Ocakli, assistant professor of political science, published an article in The Washington
Post, “What Lt. Col. Vindman’s critics get wrong about Jews who fled the Soviet Union,” with a former Skidmore student.
Jeremy Day-O’Connell, associate professor of music, delivered a keynote lecture, “Voice, Ear, and Mind: The Foundations of Speech and Song,” at the First International Seminar on the Foundations of Speech.
Joan Swanson, assistant professor of education studies, and Laura Ficarra, lecturer in education studies, published an article, “Strategies to strengthen differentiation within the Common core era: Drawing on the
expertise from those in the field,” in the journal Preventing School Failure: Alternative Education for Children and
Youth.
Swanson also presented in Italy at the 16th International Conference on Cognition
and Exploratory Learning in the Digital Age.
