Lara Ayad, assistant professor of art history, was nominated for the position of emerging professional on the College Art Association
Board of Directors. It is the first time the board will have such a position.
A 20-year-old academic article co-authored by John Brueggemann, professor of sociology, received praise in a recent blog post. The article “Mobilizing Interracial Solidarity: A Comparison of The 1919 and 1937 Steel Industry
Labor Organizing Drives” was discussed in the blog post “One of the Most Interesting Articles You’ve (Probably) Never Read.”
Penny Jolly, professor emerita of art history, published a book review of Joanne W. Anderson’s
“Moving with the Magdalen: Late Medieval Art and Devotion in the Alps,” in the February 2020 issue of Historians of Netherlandish Art Reviews. Last year,
she published a book review in the September edition.
Murat C. Yildiz, assistant professor of history, authored “Muscular Judaism Alla Turca?” in AJS Perspectives: The Magazine of the Association for Jewish Studies’ special
edition on the body. The article calls for a more expansive geographical reading of
Muscular Judaism to include the Middle East.
