Skidmore Spotlight: Angela Valden

Angela Valden works as the multimedia content editor in the Office of Communications and Marketing. She writes stories about the Skidmore community for the College’s website and Scope alumni magazine; edits the Skidmore Weekly Bulletin, press releases, event programs and a variety of other College communications; and produces the Scope Monthly website, pulling together contributions from campus partners.

Valden joined Skidmore in March 2019 after working as a journalist for more than 10 years. “I was drawn to Skidmore because it is a respected institution that contributes a lot to the community, and I appreciate its emphasis on creativity and educating students to be independent thinkers and informed citizens,” she said. And, there are so many amazing things happening through Skidmore — on and off campus — to write about.

Valden enjoys getting to know members of the campus community as she tells their stories. “I have been particularly impressed by how socially aware, talented and ambitious the Skidmore students I met are,” Valden said. “It’s great to see them take full advantage of the opportunities they have at Skidmore and it is exciting that they are our future.” 

When not on campus, she enjoys skiing and volunteering at nearby West Mountain in the winter, hiking in the Adirondacks and running and biking in Saratoga Spa State Park, as well as listening to music and spending time with her two corgis.
