Faculty-Staff Achievements
Stephen Ives, associate professor of health and human physiological sciences, published a commentary, “Commentaries on Viewpoint: Physiology and fast marathons,” in the Journal of Applied Physiology.
Bill Jones, senior athletic communications manager, was recognized as the 2020 Lester Jordan Award recipient by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) with a feature story shared through the organization’s online communications and social platforms. The honor recognizes commitment and service to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee and to student-athletes.
Madushi Raththagala, assistant professor of chemistry, received a three-year Research in Undergraduate Institutions (RUI) award from the National Science Foundation in the amount of $448,560 for her study “RUI: Glucan Phosphatases and Regulation of Transitory Starch Metabolism.”
A.J. Schneller, assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, spoke on an RPI Earth Day panel about "Engineering the Anthropocene" during an online event attended by 130 community members and students. The panel also included Nicol La Cumbre-Gibbs ’20, Mac Dill ’20 and Jack Lipson ’21 and was sponsored by RPI's Department of Science and Technology Studies, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Vollmer Fries Lectureship and the Vasudha Living and Learning Community.
