Kris Covey

An article by Kristofer Covey, visiting assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, and Zoe Pagliaro ’20 was covered in more than 30 media outlets, including The New Yorker, National Geographic, Smithsonian Magazine, Gizmodo, MongaBay, The Sun, The Times of India, The Weather Channel and The New Republic. Covey was also interviewed by two public radio programs: PRI’s The World and NPR’s Living on Earth. The article “Carbon and Beyond: The Biogeochemistry of Climate in a Rapidly Changing Amazon” was published in Frontiers in Forests and Global Change. Covey also published a Portuguese-language op-ed (“Degradation in the Amazon exacerbates global warming”with collaborators Fiona Soper, Jose Marengo and Thomas Lovejoy in Folha, Brazil’s largest circulation daily; an English-language version is set to appear in OneEarth 

Evan MackEvan Mack, senior teaching professor of music, was interviewed by WAMC’s Joe Donahue about his recently released album, “The Travelled Road.”  

 

Tammy OwensTammy C. Owens, assistant professor of American studies, published “Black Maternal Mortality: The New Child Welfare Issue in the U.S.” in the Youth Circulations blog. In the piece, Owens argues that the alarming rates of Black women dying during and shortly after giving birth must be understood as one of the most pressing child welfare issues in the United States.   

Jeremy SloanJeremy Sloane, instructor of biology, recently published a literature review titled “Primary Literature in Undergraduate Science Courses: What are the outcomes?” in the Journal of College Science Teaching.
