Faculty-Staff Achievements
Amy Frappier, associate professor of geosciences, and geosciences majors Simone Rothberg '20, Katie Garofalo '20 and Paul Machabee '21 are mentioned in an article on the North American Land Trust website. The article, which focuses on efforts to save the Karner blue butterfly and preserve an ice age sand dune in Geyser Crest, discusses Frappier and her students’ work to develop an interpretive sign along the new pedestrian walkway and teaching module for the local elementary school.
Catherine J. Golden, professor of English, published a chapter on "John Tenniel" in Children's Literature Review (243). In her roles as volume advisor and academic advisor for the project, she also selected and provided annotations for critical essays from published journals, magazines, books, monographs and reviews that were reprinted in CLR 243 (Pages 51-159).
Kelly Melekis, associate professor of social work, published "Academic-community partnerships to promote end-of-life care competencies through interprofessional
teamwork" in the Journal of Interprofessional Education and Practice. The article was co-authored
by Carol S. Weisse, director of health professions and professor of psychology at
Union College.
Kurt A. Smemo, assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, co-authored the article “Multi-year soil microbial and extracellular phosphorus enzyme response to lime and phosphate addition in temperate hardwood forests,” which was published in the journal Plant and Soil.
