Skidmore Spotlight: Daquan Pontoon

Daquan Pontoon is a campus safety officer and currently works the crucial overnight shift, which provides a variety of essential services while many College offices are closed.  

Pontoon, who joined the College in 2018, said he particularly enjoys patrolling campus by bicycle.  

“It’s an awesome way to communicate with faculty and staff. Being on a bike also allows me to take in more of the landscape and nature on campus, which can be very therapeutic at times. I highly recommend starting your day with a morning ride around the Skidmore campus.”  

Officer Pontoon particularly appreciates the positive work environment at the College. "I value the support that I receive from my colleagues in regard to working toward the personal goals that I have set for myself. Even staff and faculty outside of my department show interest in my accomplishments. An atmosphere like this is a rarity in today’s world.”  

When he is not patrolling campus, Pontoon can be found spending time with family or at the firehouse where he volunteers. He also enjoys football and plays on a semi-professional team.
