Kris CoveyKris Covey, assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, has been elected to the board of trustees of the Adirondack Nature Conservancy. The Nature Conservancy is the largest environmental organization in the country. Founded in 1971, the Adirondack affiliate has conserved more than 577,000 acres of land in New York state.  

David DomozychDavid Domozych, professor of biology, has received research funding from the National Science Foundation: The most recent NSF grant, for $573,372, will support “Spatiotemporal mapping of the membrane trafficking networks involved in secretion and autophagy in the unicellular zygnematophyte, Penium margaritaceum.” That grant runs through 2024. Another grant, for $621,026, concludes next year and is for "Acquisition of a Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope and Energy Dispersive Spectrometry Attachment for High Resolution Imaging at Skidmore College.”  

Heather Hurst

Heather Hurst ‘97, associate professor of anthropology, has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities grant. Her project is titled “Architectural Walking Tour of Ancient Maya masterpieces: Visualizations of San Bartolo and Xultun, Guatemala.” Co-directed with Franco Rossi, it will create “an interactive online platform to present 3D models of Mayan artworks that document the spread of cultural and scholarly knowledge across the region.” 

Jina MaoJina Mao, associate professor of the management and business department, published “Salvaging adulthood at youth work: Dignity, social disrespect, and the micro-politics of recognition in a polarized world” in the journal Organization.

Megan MercierMegan Mercier, director of alumni and volunteer engagement in the Office of Alumni Relations and College Events, has been selected to serve as president of the Northeast Alumni Relations (NEAR) consortium of peer colleges and universities. The organization aims to strengthen colleagueship and networking with professional peers and promotes best practices in alumni relations work among member institutions.
