Skidmore Spotlight: Tracy Broderson

December 1, 2021

Tracy Broderson serves as animal research facility manager, technical assistant in the Biology Department, and administrative assistant for the Health Professions Advisory Committee.

In these three roles, she is responsible for ensuring that research animals are housed and cared for according to strict state and federal guidelines, working with service companies to make sure Biology Department equipment is working properly, and helping students interested in careers in health professions.

Broderson, who started at Skidmore in 2002, said she enjoys meeting new faculty, staff, and students.

“Everyone has an interesting story, and hearing their diverse life experiences increases my perspective on the world,” she said. “During the pandemic shutdown and online learning, I missed interactions with colleagues and students; the campus felt empty. Now, it feels alive again! I’m also excited to have lectures, panels, performances, and other learning opportunities back.”

When she is not on campus, Broderson enjoys spending time with family, exploring new places, reading, crocheting, and volunteering for the Community Emergency Corps in Ballston Spa. She’s also an animal lover: “Our house includes many pets: a dog, a cat, a parakeet, a bearded dragon, and fish!”
