Barbara Black, professor of English, was invited by Ferenc Hörcher, director of the Research Institute of Politics and Government and senior researcher at the Hungarian Academy of Science, to speak on Black’s book “A Room of His Own” to an international virtual gathering of scholars in September. The talk was structured as a dialogue between Black and Valérie Capdeville, senior lecturer in British Civilization at the University of Paris, whose research focuses on 18th-century sociability in Britain and colonial America.

Siobhan Hart, associate professor and chair of anthropology, published a chapter titled "How can Indigenous Archaeology Address Inequality?" in The Oxford Handbook of Global Archaeologies (Oxford University Press).

David Howson, senior teaching professor and Arthur Zankel Executive Director of Arts Administration, was named a trustee on the board of the Emma Willard School in Troy, which recently broke ground on the Alice Dodge Wallace ‘38 Center for the Performing Arts.

Evan Mack, senior teaching professor of music, held a workshop performance of a new opera for children and parents called "Dragon's Breath" with librettist Joshua McGuire at Samford University. The opera will premiere in November 2023. This is the second collaboration between Mack and McGuire at Samford. The first was the creation of the award-winning opera "The Ghosts of Gatsby." Mack's first opera, "Angel of the Amazon" is currently running at the Sheen Center in New York City.

Auden Thomas, director of special programs and summer academic programs, is serving as an external reviewer for Continuing Studies at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
