Faculty-Staff Achievements

Paul Arciero, professor of health and human physiological sciences, published the editorial “How does exercise modify the course of Alzheimer's disease?" in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience. His co-authors were from Albany Medical College and Union College. 

Charlotte D’Evelyn, assistant professor of music, received a U.S. Fulbright Scholar award to conduct research in Mongolia during the spring semester. Her research considers ethnic belonging across the Mongolia-China border and explores how musicians use sound to locate and evoke notions of home and homeland. 

Katie Hauser, associate professor of art history, delivered the talk “Working on It: Labor in the Harmon and Harriet Kelley Collection of African American Art” at the Hyde Museum in Glens Falls to mark the opening of the exhibit. 

Will Kennerly, senior teaching professor of chemistry, delivered two oral presentations about improving general chemistry courses at the Biennial Conference on Chemical Education. He presented on the Chemistry Department's success in developing one-semester general chemistry enabling more students to complete chemistry requirements. That presentation was co-authored by Chemistry Department faculty Kelly Sheppard and Kim Frederick. He also presented on his innovations with specification grading in the general chemistry curriculum. 

Laurie Rabinowitz, assistant professor of education studies, had a co-authored article, "Disability Sustaining Pedagogy: Literacy Instruction Informed by the Knowledge and Lived Experiences of Teachers with Disabilities," accepted for publication in Language Arts. The article focuses primarily on issues concerning children of preschool through middle school age for the National Council for Teaching of English. 

Jess Sullivan, associate professor of psychology, has been appointed associate editor of the journal Child Development, the flagship journal of the Society for Research in Child Development. 

Juliane Wuensch, assistant professor of German, co-authored a journal article about the challenges during the pandemic for performative pedagogy and outreach programs.
