Liberty League decorates fall athletes, including Player of the Year Kat Dunn '24

Fall varsity sports teams wrapped up their 2022 seasons decked out in Liberty League accolades, including some firsts – a player of the year and a co-coaching staff of the year for women's soccer – and some repeat showings, like a star-studded line-up of All-Academic awards. Kat Dunn is Liberty League's Women’s Soccer Player of the Year
Kat Dunn '24 is Skidmore’s first Liberty League Player of the Year in women’s soccer. She played 16 games and held the team high of eight goals this season. Highlights of her year included a pair of multi-goal games against SUNY New Paltz and St. Lawrence University and an ability to deliver in big moments. Five of her eight tallies were game winners, and she ranks in the top 20 nationally in game-winning goals.
Liberty League Co-Coaching Staff of the Year, Women’s Soccer
Lacey Largeteau, Patrick Morency, and Jason Tenner also pulled off a first for Skidmore — earning the Liberty League’s Co-Coaching Staff of the Year award. They share the honor with the coaching staff of Clarkson University.
Under their leadership, women’s soccer finished its season ranked second in the league in team defense with only nine goals allowed all year. Skidmore returned to the playoffs for the second year in a row and hosted a postseason game for the first time since 2013. With an overall record of 10-2-4, it was the first time Skidmore reached the double-digit win plateau since 2013 (12-4-2).
Additionally, five members of the women's soccer squad earned All-Conference honors.
47 T’breds make Liberty League All-Academic teams
Skidmore student-athletes are also being recognized for their efforts off the field. This fall, 47 athletes qualified for the Liberty League’s All-Academic Teams in their respective sports. To be eligible, they must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and enrolled full time with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30.
Men’s soccer places five on All-Liberty League teams
In addition to an exciting championship run, the men's soccer team placed five members on the All-Liberty League list. Junior forward Kamal Ibrahim ’24 garnered First Team Honors, sophomore defender Max Heberlein ’25 was voted to the Second Team, and Honorable Mention honors were bestowed on senior forward Finn Weber ’23, junior defender James Varriano ’24, and senior goalkeeper Bobby Stratts ’23.
Men's soccer finished the 2022 season with a record of 9-4-6 and an appearance in the championship game.
All-Conference honors for three from field hockey
The Liberty League recognized three members of the Skidmore College field hockey team. Carrie Hughes '23 was selected for First Team, Kayla Hasset '25 for Second Team, and Tobi Dolan '25 landed an Honorable Mention. Field hockey finished the 2022 season with a 12-9 record.
Volleyball’s Jo Blanco selected to All-Liberty League Honorable Mention
Junior outside hitter Jo Blanco ’24 claimed Honorable Mention status on the 2022 All-Liberty League Women's Volleyball team. She led Skidmore with an average 2.43 kills per set over the season, finishing with 197 total kills in 81 sets over 22 matches, which included 21 starts. She also had 21 services aces and 197 digs on defense.
The team finished 10-15 in 2022 and 10-8 over its final 18 matches.
