Skidmore Spotlight: Jennifer Natyzak

March 14, 2019

Jennifer Natyzak works as a sustainability coordinator for student programming in the Sustainability Office

Natyzak and her team of students oversee the Skidmore Community Garden, North Woods stewardship, BikeMore, Skidmore Compost and dozens of peer-to-peer education campaigns on environmental justice, conservation, climate change and other initiatives.

“These jobs give students a tangible opportunity to take action,” said Natyzak. “It’s really rewarding, fun and heartening to work with students who are bristling with ideas and to try to make those ideas come to life.”

Natyzak, who joined Skidmore in 2016, said she also enjoys the many events and activities put on by students.

“I was drawn by the College’s liberal arts culture. It creates connections between the arts and the sciences, social studies and research, which is really neat to work within,” she said. “Beatlemore is my favorite Skidmore tradition. It’s so stunning to watch students you know and see from around campus reveal themselves to be glamorous, talented musicians rocking the stage.”

When not at Skidmore, Natyzak enjoys hiking in the Adirondacks, exploring the various foods and events in the region, and trying her hand at new craft projects.
