Chris BriggsChristopher Briggs, area coordinator in the Office of Residential Life, received the Elizabeth Sinkiewicz Reid New Professional Award during the annual Conference of the Northeast Association of College and University Housing Officers (NEACUHO). The honor recognizes his contributions to the Skidmore office and his service to NEACUHO as the 2019 conference communications chair.

Kate GraneyKatherine Graney, Joseph C. Palamountain professor of political science, published the book “Russia, the Former Soviet Republics, and Europe Since 1989: Transformation and Tragedy” (Oxford University Press, 2019).

Jeff SegraveTim HarperTimothy Harper, associate professor and chair of the Management and Business Department, and Jeffrey Segrave, David H. Porter professor and chair of the Music Department, co-authored an article, “Integrating Sport Management and Business Management Literatures: Capturing the Dynamics of NCAA Athletics,” with Neil Sinclair, former Skidmore men’s hockey coach, in the International Journal of Sport and Society.

Joan SwansonChristine ReillyChristine F. Reilly, assistant professor of computer science and Charles Lubin Family Chair for Women in Science, presented a paper, "A Case Study in Constructivist Pedagogy in a Computer Organization Course," at the 49th annual Frontiers in Education (FIE) conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. The paper was co-authored with Joan Ann Swanson, assistant professor of education studies.

Masami TamagawaA quote from an article, “Coming Out of the Closet in Japan: An Exploratory Sociological Study,” by Masami Tamagawa, senior teaching professor of Japanese, will be translated and used in an art exhibit by a British artist at Contemporary Art Center, Art Tower Mito, in Ibaraki, Japan.

Jessica Turner, head women’s basketball coach, was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame at her alma mater, Castleton University.

Martha WisemanMartha Wiseman, lecturer in the English Department and director of the Philip Boshoff Writing Center, published an essay, “What the Music Said,” in the fall issue of The Georgia Review.
