Lori AceeLori Acee, assistant to the director of Scribner Library, was recently appointed to serve on the Ballston Spa Public Library Board of Trustees.

 
Paul ArcieroPaul Arciero, professor of health and human physiological sciences, was featured in Women’s World magazine for his research and new book, “The Protein Pacing Diet.” The book is a No. 1 Amazon best-seller in three different categories and reached a high of No. 45 in Amazon’s largest book category of weight-loss/diet books. He was also invited to present the Spring Nutrition Symposium at the New York Chiropractic College in March.

Marta BrunnerMarta Brunner, College librarian, published a new article, "Scenes: Lever Press: An interview with Marta Brunner," in American Book Review.

 

Hope CastoHope Casto, chair and associate professor of education studies, published the article “‘We’re nine miles from the board building, but the perception is that we’re 100 miles away out in farm country’: The case of a rural school in a non-rural district” in the Journal of Rural Studies.

Jenny DayJenny Day, associate professor of history, presented her research on the history of Hong Kong's extradition law at Harvard Law School. Her paper is titled, "The Enigma of a Taiping Fugitive: The Illusion of Justice and the 'Political Offence Exception' in Extradition from Hong Kong, 1865-1866."

Jordana DymJordana Dym, professor of history and director of Latin American and Latinx studies, was elected chair of the trustees of the International Society of the History of the Map (ISHMap) in July. The society’s main project has been to organize and become lead list editor of H-Maps, which launched in October as a discussion group for professionals interested in the history of maps and mapping.

Amy FrappierAmy Frappier, chair and associate professor of geosciences, was quoted in the article “Sea Caves Hold Clues to Ancient Storms” in Earth & Space Science News about how sediments from sea caves help reconstruct past climate patterns, contributing to better storm predictions.

Katie HauserKatie Hauser, associate professor of art history, presented “Just-in-Time Assessment: Designing a Design History Assessment” at the 2019 Conference of the Universities Art Association of Canada, Quebec. The presentation addressed a new project involving purchasing, collecting and exhibiting eBay items in Hauser’s History of Modern Design course.

Marketa Halova WolfeMarketa Wolfe, associate professor of economics, presented a paper she co-authored, “Drift Begone! Release Procedures and Preannouncement Price Drift,” at the Southern Finance Association 2019 Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.
