Barbara BlackBarbara Black, professor of English, has been appointed to the PMLA (Publications of the Modern Language Association of America) advisory committee for a three-year term. Members of the committee advise the editorial board on articles submitted for publication in PMLA and offer guidance for the PMLA special features “Criticism in Translation” and “Little-Known Documents.”

Giuseppe Faustini

Giuseppe Faustini, professor of Italian, published the article “Luigi Pirandello’s View of America and His Three American novelle” in Pirandello Studies (Vol. 42). In addition, Faustini has been appointed to the editorial board of the Italian studies journal Italica, a quarterly of the American Association of Teachers of Italian.  

Tim HarperKaren Kellogg, associate professor of environmental studies and sciences, has received a second award from the Department of Energy to participate in its Visiting Faculty Program at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). This award includes research support for her and several environmental studies and sciences students for work on a project related to barriers to wind energy implementation.

Sarita LagalwarRebecca NcNamaraRebecca McNamara, associate curator at the Tang, and Sara Lagalwar, associate professor of neuroscience, spoke on WAMC's Roundtable on Tuesday, March 29, about art, science, and the exhibition “Radical Fiber: Threads Connecting Art and Science.” 

Rodrigo SchneiderRodrigo Schneider, assistant professor of economics, published “The effect of presidential election outcomes on alcohol drinking” in Economics & Politics. The paper shows the impact of political polarization in the U.S. on health risk behavior reporting and how the unexpected election of President Trump in 2016 increased consumption of alcohol among counties where more than 75% of the electorate voted for Hilary Clinton. Schneider published the article with collaborator Isabel Musse.
