Mixdown Procedure

Here's a list of steps to take if you are doing your first mixdown from 16 track to DAT:

• Load tape onto 16 track machine, be sure it is well seated on the 16 track machine (safety switch down on reel hold down knob)
• Place remote control into "all playback"
• Press the "FLIP" button on the mixer
• Press the "ST" button on the mixer
• Bring up the listening volume on the mixer (control room gain knob) about 40%
• Place your DAT tape into the DAT machine and press the record button (to practice mixing)
• Turn on the Speakers with the speaker switch
• Playback the 16 track tape (press the PLAY button on the remote control)
• Move the Master Stereo Fader (slider) up about 80% towards the top
• Move the various other input faders, according to which tracks have sound on them on the 16 track
• Practice your mix WATCHING ALL METERS, especially the ST bus meters on the Mixer and the DAT meters
• After a practice mix or two, watching meters, hold down RECORD and press PLAY on the DAT macine.
• Now do your mix
• Rewind the DAT and press "2TD-1" on the mixer to hear the DAT playback (press PLAY on the DAT)
