Private Lesson Freeman Scholarship Application

Scholarship Details
Need-based scholarships are available for private lesson fees. Awards are awarded in varying amounts: 1/3, 2/3, and full. The amount you receive is dependent upon the information received from the Financial Aid Office as to need. Scholarships are awarded on a per-semester basis and as such need to be reapplied for each semester.
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be enrolled in a music course or ensemble (in addition to the lessons) during the semester for which you are applying, and you must maintain a grade of B or better in all MU and MP courses.
You must contact your instructor to ask that he/she submit a recommendation for you.
Incoming freshmen and students taking lessons for the first time at Skidmore may apply for a lesson scholarship. They must contact the respective Skidmore studio teacher for an interview and/or audition. The teacher can then write a recommendation for the student. All other eligibility rules apply.
Additional funding (besides the Freeman Scholarship) may be available for students in orchestra and chamber ensembles. These scholarships may, or may not, be contingent on financial need.
Submission deadline: The last Monday of classes in the semester preceding the one that you are applying for (i.e., apply in the fall for the upcoming spring semester).
