Faculty-Staff Achievements

Beth Brucker-Kane, associate director of donor engagement and stewardship, has joined the board of directors of The Wesley Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs. Brucker-Kane previously served in leadership roles on the boards of Saratoga Reads, Beagle School, Saratoga Rowing Association, Home Made Theater, and Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation.  

Kristofer Covey, assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, was quoted in articles in The Christian Science Monitor and Context News discussing the economics of carbon pricing for regenerative agriculture. 

Recent work on mural fragments by Heather Hurst ’97, associate professor of anthropology, was selected by Archaeology magazine as one of its Top 10 discoveries of 2022. The fragments from San Bartolo are with the earliest Maya calendar date.  

Stephen Ives, associate professor, and Justin DeBlauw, visiting assistant professor of health and human physiological sciences, published a commentary in the Journal of Applied Physiology on "Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst: can we perform remote data collection in sport sciences?" 

Vojtech (Vojta) Kejzlar, assistant professor of statistics, was the lead author of the scientific paper “Variational inference with vine copulas: an efficient approach for Bayesian computer model calibration,” which was published in Statistics and Computingjournal.  

Eliza Kent, professor of religious studies, published "Can Tamil Sacred Groves Survive Neoliberalism?" in “Sacred Forests of Asia: Spiritual Ecology and the Politics of Nature Conservation,” edited by Chris Coggins and Bixia Chen (Routledge).   

Beck Krefting, professor in American studies and director of the Center for Leadership in Teaching and Learning, co-authored (with Mohamed Bassou) "The History of Moroccan Stand-Up Comedy: From Storytelling to Charged Humor" in the edited collection “Punching Up in Stand-Up Comedy: Speaking Truth to Power” (Routledge 2022).
