Abigail CaldwellAbigail Caldwell ’03, director of Health Services, co-authored a scholarly paper. "Preexposure Prophylaxis Implementation in a Reproductive Health Setting: Perspectives From Planned Parenthood Providers and Leaders" appeared in Health Promotion Practice

Hope CastoHope Casto, associate professor of education studies, presented a paper titled "Unintended Consequences of Well-Intentioned Policy: The Case of New York State UPK" at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association in San Diego.

Kris CoveyKristofer Covey, assistant professor of environmental studies and sciences, was interviewed by Audrey Choi, Morgan Stanley’s chief sustainability officer, about his work developing The Soil Inventory Project. The interview is included in “From the Ground Up: A Soil Solution.” Covey also gave two invited presentations: He and Shay Kolodney ES’21 presented their research at Caney Fork Farms with students at the Climate Farm School. He was also the featured speaker for McKinsey & Company’s AGTech Industry Speaker Series. 

Jenny DayJenny H. Day, associate professor of history, received an National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends Award and an American Philosophical Society/British Academy Fellowship Research Grant. 

Jennifer FawcettJennifer Fawcett, visiting assistant professor of English, was featured in the Times Union article “Skidmore professor pens scary story based on childhood terror.” 

 

John GaltJohn Galt, assistant professor of art, gave a lecture on Albany Sand, an artist talk, and a week- long workshop on green sand casting at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. 

Steve IvesStephen Ives, associate professor of health and human physiological sciences, co-organized a virtual conference for New York on behalf of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine on April 29. It includes presenters from Columbia University, Drexel University, SUNY Brockport, Skidmore College, and the University of Pittsburgh. Kendall Zaleski ’22 presented work from ongoing collaborative research with Ives.   

Oscar Perez HernandezOscar A. Pérez, associate professor of Spanish, published an article in LASA Forum describing how the humanities and the arts can help us better understand the effects of the intensive use of agrochemicals in Latin American fields.  

Bernie PossidenteSarita LagalwarChris VecseyChris Vecsey, associate professor of neuroscience, Sarita Lagalwar, associate professor of neuroscience, and Bernard Possidente, professor of biology, co-authored 17 research poster presentations with 28 students at the April 24 NEURON Conference at Quinnipiac University Medical School. The "Nu Rho Psi Award for Scientific Merit" for the best poster was awarded to Elizabeth Roy ’22 for "Specifying the role of NPF in sleep induction of adult and larval Drosophila melanogaster," co-authored by Brianne Cook '18 and Associate Professor of Neuroscience.
