Skidmore’s hometown is gearing up for a fun-filled weekend featuring the 13th annual Saratoga Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Downtown Business Association, is free and open to the public.

The Fall Festival, a community-wide celebration of autumn and Halloween, will kick off at 10 a.m.at the Saratoga Farmers’ Market with a ribbon cutting with special guest Mayor Joanne Yepsen.

Activities will run throughout the day in downtown Saratoga Springs and will include a “pumpkin roll” down Caroline Street, live music, a rock climbing wall, petting zoo, pony rides, traveling magicians, and “Sparkles” the stilt juggler. The day will also offer pumpkin decorating, face painting, and cupcake decorating. Children are encouraged to dress in costume and bring a bag for trick or treating at downtown stores and restaurants.

Skidmore students will lend their talents to the festival. The College’s Circus Club will perform noon–2 p.m. at the corner of Division St. and Broadway. The campus Pro-Arts organization will offer hands-on art activities for children, 1–3 p.m. in the outdoor area of Gaffney’s Restaurant on Caroline St.

The day will conclude with a costume parade down Broadway starting at 4 p.m. at Forno Bistro, 541 Broadway. The parade will end at the Congress Park Carousel, with a free ride for all.

“This unique Halloween celebration encourages families to have fun together, enjoying the hospitality of Saratoga Springs businesses and the great spirit of the community,” said Maddy Zanetti, co-chair of the festival with Susan Farnsworth ’75.
