Vis-a-vis: Radio days
Professor Adam Tinkle and rising junior Adam Simon ’19, who have worked together on audio projects through Skidmore’s Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative, are now collaborating on Upstate Youth Radio, summer workshops where children learn about writing, producing, and broadcasting for radio or recording for podcasts. Participants get to use the CREATE Community Studios in Saratoga Springs and a new CREATE studio in Schenectady, as well as Skidmore’s WSPN-FM student-run station, in the basement of Jonsson Tower.
Adam Simon '19 helps 9-year-old Max Vogel select music for his Upstate Youth Radio
show.
At WSPN’s campus studio, Ellie O’Brien and Anika Wolfe, both 7 years old, prepare
for their radio show about tennis.
Max Vogel adjusts the microphone before he goes on air.
Emilee Meattors broadcasts on air while George Danison uses his phone to research
music; both are 16 years old.
Wolfe and O’Brien are happy to get how-to tips from Adam Simon ’19.
Interview questions are ready and waiting for the O’Brien-Wolfe tennis show.
