Important dining updates

November 11, 2021

Dear Students,

We write this afternoon to let you know that grab-and-go dining will continue for the immediate future as we continue to monitor results from COVID-19 testing.

This is one of the most effective ways to reduce transmission on campus, but we realize this may cause inconveniences and that this is a difficult transition.

To address recent concerns about the availability of space to eat, Murray-Aikins Dining Hall and The Spa will be temporarily set up to help ensure social distancing, including single-seating dining. Please note that space will be limited.

If you would like to eat with others, you may opt to eat outdoors in the tents that are located in Porter Plaza, on the Starbuck Center patio, and outside Kimball Hall.

Students are also always encouraged to take food back to their room or apartment to dine privately or with roommates or housemates.

Again, we understand that this is not an ideal situation, but we ask that everyone continue to take the risk of COVID-19 seriously. If we continue to see a rise in cases, students who test positive will risk not being able to travel home for the Thanksgiving break. As President Conner shared yesterday, we are in the home stretch and can’t let up.

We will continue to assess our community infection and transmission patterns and make decisions based on the data to help ensure the safety of our entire community. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

The COVID-19 Logistics Working Group
