Best wishes for a healthy, safe, and enjoyable winter break
December 13, 2022
Dear Skidmore Community,
At the end of a great fall semester all together on campus, I send my sincere gratitude
to all of you - our wonderful students, faculty, and staff – as well as best wishes
for the new year. From the incredible academic work done here at Skidmore, to the
engaging music and theater performances, thrilling athletic events, interesting lectures,
and eye-opening exhibitions, I continue to be so amazed by our creative, caring community.
Health and wellness continues to be our priority, and so I strongly encourage you
to take steps now, during break, and throughout the winter season to help keep yourself
and those around you healthy and safe. With what’s being referred to as a “tripledemic”
this winter – the confluence of COVID-19, the flu, and RSV (respiratory syncytial
virus) – please remember that vaccinations and masking remain among our best defenses.
More information about Skidmore’s specific COVID-19 recommendations is shared below.
Take good care of yourselves, and I hope you have an enjoyable winter break. We look
forward to seeing you in January!
Sincerely,
Marc C. Conner
President
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,
As President Conner noted, we write to share a few important reminders and recommendations
to help protect your health – and the health of your family and friends and our community
– during break.
-
Free rapid tests and masks remain available to all at Campus Safety and at the Case Center Information Desk. Students in particular are encouraged to pick up tests so they can easily test before break and prior to or upon your return to campus in January.
-
If you develop symptoms, please test and mask while symptoms persist.
-
Consider wearing a mask if you are going to be in spaces or places where transmission may be more likely to occur, such as crowded events or while traveling.
-
If you have not yet received your COVID booster or your flu shot, please consider doing so as soon as possible if you are eligible.
The Campus Planning page continues to be available to all as a resource with up-to-date information. On behalf
of the COVID-19 Logistics Working Group, we wish everyone happy holidays and a restful
break!
Sincerely,
Adrian Bautista, (Co-Chair), Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs
Sarah Vero, (Co-Chair), Strategic HR Advisor
