Visual and Digital Media Mellon Fellow opportunity

January 17, 2014

As part of Project VIS, Skidmore College invites applications for a 2.5-year Mellon Fellowship in Visual Communication and Documentary Arts to embed best practices in design and technology into a campus-wide initiative to promote visual literacy and documentary storytelling.

The Fellow's principal responsibility will be to support the work of the John B. Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative (MDOCS) and Visualization Forum within the Mellon-funded "Project VIS," Enhancing Visual Communication and Understanding through Creative Pedagogy and Integrative Learning.

The fellow will teach (7–9 credit hours/year) in at least one of the following areas: film/video, interactive or communication design; be a resource for product management and direction of creative scholarship; support a summer Storyteller's Institute and the Documentary and Visual Form Center; and promote interdisciplinary collaboration and outreach.

We seek an energetic and collaborative partner who expresses a strong affinity for visual communication across a broad range of disciplines, is committed to community-based work that engages cultural and political realities through a personal point of view and integrates both creativity and critical inquiry in their work.

An ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in computer-related design, digital visual communication and storytelling, problem-solving skills, high standards and the capacity to work well with others. Interested? For qualifications and requirements, see the job announcement at Human Resources.

Accepting applications through October 1, 2014.
