Bitly CEO, Mark Josephson '94, seeks creative talent

When the Skidmore Career Development Center recently met with Mark Josephson '94, he asked a simple question: "How can I help?" 

The irony is, Josephson, CEO of Bitly, has been helping all along. 

From writing his signature #TalentTuesday advice posts on LinkedIn,  to serving as an active member of the Career Advisor Network, Josephson's engagement with his alma mater has strongly focused on helping Skidmore students to lead successful careers.  He's even found some talent along the way, having hired two members of the Class of 2017, and one from the Class of 2018.

"A liberal arts background can take you to interesting places," said Josephson. "I value team members who ask questions, share ideas, and learn from one another. I know I can find this unique talent at Skidmore."

Josephson, a psychology major, became Bitly CEO in 2013 after holding leadership roles at AOL, Outside.in, Seevast Corp. and About.com.  Bitly aims to educate the world about how links drive business results.  Essentially, Bitly helps businesses- such as Disney, Amazon, The New York Times, and more- to shine by transforming their links into positive tools for marketers and customer support teams.  The company has offices in New York, Denver, and San Francisco, and was recently recognized for the second year in a row as one of top 20 "Best Places to Work" by Crain's New York Business.

Understanding the value of a liberal arts candidate, Bitly signed on as the first recruiting employer of Skidmore Recruitment Day 2020, a job interview event for Skidmore seniors on February 28 in New York City.  More than 20 companies followed Bitly's lead, eager to recruit Skidmore's creative talent.  All job-seeking Skidmore seniors are encouraged to register.   Students can apply for as many jobs as they wish from all participating companies January 27- February 3.  Bitly is recruiting for Sales Development Representatives, and Customer Support positions.
