Why CAN When There Is LinkedIn?

April 18, 2019

Networking Photo at Skidmore eventNetworking – you’ve heard of it, you’ve gone to events to meet people, and you’ve built a LinkedIn profile. Great!

Want to take it to another level? Consider using Skidmore’s Career Advisor Network (CAN) – our very own, in-house LinkedIn. In 2018, CAN moved to a new platform called PeopleGrove, and exploring the Skidmore network has never been easier!

Here are just a few of the benefits of using CAN:

  • Everyone who is in the Career Advisor Network has proactively volunteered to provide informational interviews to students.  Advisors are alumni, parents, and in some cases, employers who love Skidmore!  There is no wondering if it’s okay for you to pick their brains.  They WANT you to reach out!
  • It provides direct access. On LinkedIn, you have to wait for someone to accept your invitation to connect (if they even accept invitations) before you can send a message. Through CAN, if you can find them, you can send them a message right away!

Search by industry, location, major and more.  Nearly 1500 advisors are available to work with Skidmore students.

Here are a few great advisors:
