Academics

Dear Students,

Welcome to Skidmore! We are delighted that you are joining our community, and hope that you and your family and friends are safe and healthy.

We are two members of the Skidmore community here to help you during your four years at the College. Kim Marsella is the director of the Office of Academic Advising. Kim and her staff oversee Skidmore's faculty-based academic advising system and participate(s) in reviewing and reporting student academic status. The office is committed to fostering strong academic standards while at the same time offering academic support, special academic opportunities, and guidance for all students. Prof. Michael Arnush is the Associate Dean of the Faculty for Student Academic Affairs. Prof. Arnush works with Kim’s staff as well as colleagues in the First-Year Experience office, the Office of the Registrar, Off-Campus Study and Exchange, and the Opportunity Program. Prof. Arnush also oversees the implementation of the Skidmore College Honor Code and all aspects of academic integrity, including the Academic Integrity Handbook.

We have put together a presentation for you on the Honor Code, academic integrity, and ethical issues surrounding scholarship. As new Skidmore scholars, you will be bound by the Honor Code in all aspects of your academic life at the College, and we want to help you understand what that means.

In preparation for the presentation, we ask you to first read a statement on the Ethics of Scholarship, watch a ten-minute tutorial on Academic Integrity and take the quiz on Academic Integrity – all of which are listed as module items below.

We hope that our presentation is helpful. In addition, you’ll find several other videos below about academic resources and support, which we ask that you view. If you have any questions, please contact us at the emails below. Again, welcome to Skidmore College, Class of 2024 and transfer students!

Cheers,

Michael Arnush
