Planning to begin for Class of 2020 Commencement Celebration

March 3, 2021

Dear Skidmore Class of 2020,

Greetings from Saratoga Springs and Skidmore.

As I explained in my message to you and your classmates in November, an important part of our spring planning is an evaluation of when it will be safe to move ahead with a plan that would allow the members of the Class of 2020 to return to Saratoga Springs for an in-person celebration of your graduation. I don’t mind telling you that achieving an appropriate celebration for the Class of 2020 is a major priority for me. It has been quite difficult to develop such a plan this winter, since the ongoing circumstances surrounding the pandemic, including New York state restrictions on large gatherings, as well as the increased prevalence of the virus and the slow rollout of the vaccines, have prevented us from doing so.

With a committment to moving forward to develop a safe, in-person celebration, I have reached out to your Class of 2020 representatives, including Class President Jinan Al-Busaidi, and hope to engage with them and the Skidmore logistical team to develop plans for a celebration that is worthy of the singular achievements of the Class of 2020. We will continue to update you as this planning process unfolds.

Sincerely,
Marc C. Conner
President
