Despite her celebrity, Oprah Winfrey got some quiet Commencement time with Mo Mazibuko '17, the graduate from her South African girls' academy. Winfrey celebrated with Mazibuko's family and a few Skidmore mentors, and Mo caught it in video.

Among the midsummer events across campus are two public performances by the Decoda Chamber Music Ensemble, July 11 and July 18. Admission is $8 general, $5 for seniors and Skidmore community members, and free for kids. [tickets]

Distinguished professors Steven Millhauser, Mehmet Odekon, and Pete Stake—along with John Cunningham after a record 50 years of teaching—retired this spring.

Alumni and others teamed up to raise over $24 million by the May 31 close of Skidmore's giving year-with challenges met and records smashed along the way.

Alumni from class years ending in 3 and 8 are invited to campus in July to plan events, fundraising, and other class activities for Reunion 2018. Planners from 1958 to 1978 will meet July 20–22, and those from 1983 to 2013 will meet July 21–23.

Recent accomplishments by alumni from the classes of 2011, 2006, 1994, 1985, and 1979, including Ian Kahn ’94’s dramatic turn as George Washington.
