Human Performance Teaching Lab

The Human Performance Teaching Laboratory is equipped with sophisticated instrumentation to teach students about the body's physiological  responses to exercise.  Skidmore faculty and students utilize the following laboratory technologies in their research:

Metabolic Cart
Used to quantify oxygen consumption and energy expenditure in subjects

Underwater or Hydrostatic Weighing System
Used to measure body composition using Archimedes' Principle, residual lung volume, and water displacement.

Cybex Isokinetic Dynamometer
Used to measure force production using a multitude of isokinetic variables in conjunction with different eccentric and concentric movements.

Electrocardiographer
Used to measure electrical changes in the heart
