Katie Bullock joined Skidmore College in the Fall semester of 2022 as a visiting assistant professor. They received their Ph.D. from the University of Akron in the Spring of 2022. Their dissertation, “Gaming to Entertaining: An Exploration of Gender and Race Inequalities in Online Video Game Streaming” looked at the presentation of self in online video game streaming and how these presentations were impacted by intersecting identities. A major focus of this work was the ways in which how streamers present themselves may, intentionally or otherwise, contribute to or resist social inequalities. They have also done research focusing on the experiences of transwomen impacted by HIV and their experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic. Katie’s research and teaching interests revolve around social inequalities, including race, class, and gender.
