Applied Quantitative Reasoning requirement

Skidmore has an Applied Quantitative Reasoning requirement.  There are several levels of quantitative reasoning at Skidmore. The Quantitative Reasoning (QR) Placement Diagnostic is designed to help place you at the appropriate level given your current quantitative reasoning skills. If you scored 650 or higher on the Math SAT, 28 or higher on the Math ACT, or 570 or higher on a Math SAT Subject Test, and officially submitted your score to Skidmore, you should already have a Quantitative Reasoning placement and do not need to take the QR Placement Diagnostic. The Quantitative Reasoning Director, Professor Smriti Tiwari, will e-mail your Skidmore address by 4 PM ET on May 5th confirming your placement based on standardized test scores. If you need to submit your SAT or ACT scores, please follow the linked instructions. Otherwise, the deadline for completing the QR Placement Diagnostic is May 26th. Please note that this does not necessarily mean that you will take a quantitative reasoning course in your first semester. If you have questions about this placement, please email  Professor Smriti Tiwari

You should take the QR Placement Diagnostic seriously as under-placement will mean taking up to three QR courses rather than just one to fulfill the AQR requirement. The QR Placement Diagnostic is untimed and typically takes 1.5-2 hours. Once you have begun the program, you cannot stop or exit.  Hence you should choose a time and place where you will be able to work uninterrupted for about 1.5-2 hours.  When you are ready, follow the link in the FYE checklist.

NOTE: If you experience any issues with this placement diagnostic, please check the troubleshooting FAQ for the placement diagnostic. If the issue is not on the FAQ, please contact the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@skidmore.edu or 518-580-5900.
