40th Anniversary!Saisselin 40th Anniversary Celebration!

Join us as we celebrate 40 years of making in the Saisselin Art Center.

We invite you to tour the building and experience our ten studios areas in action.  

Friday, October 12, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Learn about the remarkable history of the Art Center and share your stories with us.  Linger to visit with faculty and students, meet alumni and connect with friends during a reception in the Schick Art Gallery at the close of the afternoon.

Drawing 311 Sophie Isaak Group collaborative drawings.  Join a drawing for an extended period of development or drop in for some experimentation. 10 Two Sessions: 2:00 – 2:45, 3:00 – 3:45. 
  305 Trish Lyell Still-life building project: Participants are invited to join in and draw.  Students will be drawing. 15 Ongoing, drop in any time.
  309 Deborah Morris Advanced drawing students working in the studio.  Student work on display. 10 - 15 Ongoing, drop by any time.
  313 Paul Sattler Faculty member and students in Figure drawing class working from the model. Participants are welcome to visit and watch.   10 to stop and watch. Ongoing
Digital Media 219 Sarah Sweeney Participants will make a collaborative animation that will be posted on youtube for all participants to see. 10 Two sessions: 2:15 – 2:45, 3:15 – 3:45.
Fiber Arts 101 Sang Wook Lee Faculty member and students, lecture and demonstration of Fiber Art processes.  Participation in processes and take-aways. 5 each workshop Two sessions three process groups during each session, 2:00 – 2:45, 3:00 – 4:00
Jewelry & Metals 111 David Peterson Four demonstrations occurring throughout the studio with faculty members and advanced students.  A few opportunities for participants to try their hand at some processes and make something to take away. 4 people in each mini-workshop. One session, 2:00 – 4:00.
Painting 303 Joanne Vella Beginning Painting students working on their projects.  Faculty member available to talk about the creative process in Painting I. 10 – 15   Ongoing, could join any time.
  315 Deborah Morris Intermediate Painting students working in the studio.  Student work on display 10 Ongoing, could drop by any time.
  301/308 Fabian Lopez Exhibition of Advanced Painting work in room 308 and 301.  The Advanced Painting Studio will be open, and students and Faculty member will be moving between the rooms. 25  Ongoing, could join any time.
Color (Doretta is away with NASAD business the day of event.  She will hang color student work in the hallway.)     307 Deborah Morris Interactive demonstration about Color Relativity and Albers Color Theory.  Participants can watch, view displays and try working with Color Aide paper to experience color relativity. Small project that participants can do and take with them. 25 to watch, 12 to work on the project  Ongoing, project runs during two sessions: 2:20 – 3:00, 3:20 to 4:00.
Photography 217 And Hallway Robert ParkeHarrison Exhibition of Alumni Photography student work.  Students working in the classroom, Professor and students available to talk about the creative process in Photography. Unlimited to view exhibition, 10-15 to linger and talk. Ongoing.
Printmaking 107 Kate Leavitt The printshop will be bustling with activity. Student work on display.  Faculty available to discuss the creative possibilities in printmaking and book arts. 10- 15 Ongoing, can stop by anytime.
Sculpture 113 John Galt Demonstrations of the digital capacities in Sculpture: laser and plasma cutter, 3D scanning systems, 3D modeling software.  Students working and faculty available to give special tours of the sculpture facility and answer questions.  Some opportunities for participation and take-aways. 10 – 15 to watch, 15 for tour. Two sessions, 2:15 – 3:00, and 3:15 to 4:00.
