Political Economy and Poverty
Instructor(s): William Lewis, Philosophy
Political Economy studies the relationship among persons and political, cultural, and economic institutions. One fact of political economy is that the poor, have always been a component part. In addition to listening to impoverished peoples represent their own experiences, students will use the tools of the social sciences, philosophy, and literature to understand why the poor are thought persistent. The course will focus on global poverty as well as on the particular relationship between poverty and race in the United States.
