Meghan TuckerMeghan Tucker '21 - CS PAC Captain

Major: Computer Science

About me: I'm the president of Philosophy Club.

Why PAC?: I wanted to join PAC because I know how difficult the learning curve for Computer Science classes can be, and I wanted to be able to help students overcome it.

Favorite class and why: My favorite class was my Scribner Seminar: Forests, Gardens, and the Meaning of Life. I loved it because the professor taught it almost as a guide to—and an examination of—living a meaningful life.

Academic advice: Take good notes. I know this seems simple and obvious, but I have found that the notes I have taken during classes have absolutely been the key to doing well on exams, homework, and essays—even if my handwriting is occasionally indecipherable.

Selina Almasarwah '23

Major: Computer ScienceSelina

About me: I’m a sophomore and I’m the vice-president of the Computer Science Club.

Why PAC?: I’ve joined PAC because I am passionate about computer science. I would love to help others in understanding its concepts and how to tackle problems.

Favorite class and why: My favorite class is Computer Science Research. In that class, I work on a bigger, unstructured project. I gained a lot of knowledge about databases and working with bigger programs and larger data sets.

Academic advice: Maintain a healthy lifestyle while working on your degree. It can be challenging sometimes, but prioritise your health and safety.

Zoe Beals '22

Major: Computer ScienceZoe

About me: I’m a member of the Skidmore volleyball team, I’m from Sandy Hook, CT and I’m also minoring in Mathematics.

Why PAC?: I wanted to join PAC to allow myself to learn further by teaching others and share my interest in Computer Science. My own experience with PAC as an underclassman had been extremely helpful and I was really excited to give others the same opportunities I benefitted from.

Favorite Class and Why: Intro to Computer Science 1 taught by Professor Read because it really opened my eyes up to what the field of Computer Science offers, which is something I hadn’t gotten the opportunity to understand prior to taking the class.

Academic Advice: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! The process of learning involves multiple tries, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t get something right away. Persistence is key!

Zoe Bilodeau '23

Major: Computer ScienceZoe

About me: I am a sophomore planning to major in Computer Science.  In my free time I enjoy rock climbing, art, and running!

Why PAC?  I thouoght this would be a great way to become more involved with the Computer Science community on campus and further my own understanding in a productive way!

Favorite Class and Why:  Though I have loved most of my classes, the one that I most frequently think about is Digital Life.  The central topic was how society has been affected by technology, which led to thoughful and relevant discussions and the many aspects of our lives that have been changed by technology.

Academic Advice: It's okay to ask for help!  If a concept just isn't making sense, sometimes the right thing to do is to save yourself some stress and frustration and ask for assistance.

Jordan Mazur '21

Double Major: Mathematics & Computer Science
About me: I love math because it can be used for just about anything. I’m interested in using math and computer science to make the world a better place. I am particularly passionate about women’s rights and education. When I’m not solving problems, I love to get outside! I’m an avid rock climber and lead all kinds of trips with the Skidmore Outing Club. My favorite trail snack is a breakfast burrito or a bagel from Uncommon.

Why PAC?: I love the collaborative nature of PAC, and am excited to both share my knowledge and learn in a math-centered environment.

Favorite class and why: Linear algebra because this was the first class where I realized that the type of problem solving I enjoy could also be used for a variety of applications.

Academic advice: It always gets done. When we are stressed and overwhelmed with our workload it can be hard to see the finish line. In those moments it is important to make a game plan, get focused, and take some deep breaths.

William Shelley '21
